The Leadership Development Institute’s (LDI) March Session

The Leadership Development Institute’s (LDI) March session welcomed Mary Mozingo, Life Transition Coach at Positive Purpose Living in Charlotte.  The LDI monthly sessions provide class members opportunities to hone their leadership skills and give them the tools to achieve their highest potential in their personal and professional lives.  This month proved to be no exception.  Woozie Dell, Executive Director of the JLC, and Emily Jordan, a member of this year’s LDI class, offer their reflections on the March session.

I just had the wonderful opportunity to attend an exceptional session with the Leadership Development Institute (LDI) at the Junior League! The speaker was Mary Mozingo who is a life coach here in Charlotte. She walked us through the steps that would enable us to take a deeper look into our own Wheel of Life (family, friendships, career, finance, etc.) and to empower us to achieve our fullest potential! Through personal exercises we focused on finding our purpose and how to balance it all. We were able to see that we are exactly where we need to be at this time in our lives. This was very reassuring as we learned to focus on the present.~Woozie Dell, Executive Director JLC

Similar to other speakers we have had for LDI this year, life coach Mary Mozingo provided an incredibly enriching experience in the March session.  The session began with a visualization exercise to help calm our minds.  Next, we were asked to consider the balance of fulfillment and discontent in our lives. Partnering up, we challenged ourselves to ask what aspects of our lives we wanted to change and how much we were willing to risk in order to make those changes. Mary supplied us with tactics to reduce our inner critics in order to access our greatest potential. She helped us set attainable small goals to facilitate change in our own lives, which was very empowering. My favorite takeaway was the following quote: “If you live in the past, you’ll be sad. If you live in the future, you will be anxious. To live at peace, live in the present.”~ Emily Jordan
