SPAC Speaker Series: Human Trafficking in the Charlotte Area

You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.” ~ William Wilberforce

On December 17, JLC’s SPAC and Moore and Van Allen law firm presented Part 2 of its bi-monthly Speaker Series with guest speaker Homeland Security Special Agent Kelly Harrison. A packed room of 43 attendees gained expert insight on local trends of human trafficking, details on prosecuted high profile cases and cyber safety.

The Speaker Series has been a highly anticipated event among members and the community to learn more on identifying human trafficking and what can be done to help fight against this horrific crime.  Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive including recommending the training to others in the League and in the community, information presented is extremely useful, and highly likely to attend trainings like this in the future.

Part 3 of the SPAC Speaker Series “Representing Victims of Human Trafficking” will take place February 18 from 12 p.m. to 1p.m. at the law office of Moore & Van Allen. This training will address the realities of human trafficking as it relates to the law including: relevant statutory and case law and victims’ legal needs and rights. Come learn more about this growing area of law and how pro bono lawyers can help victims of human trafficking locally in the Charlotte area.
