Leader Training

LDI Member Highlights

Junior League of Charlotte’s own Chrissy Fischer, a full-time mom and the head trainer for CISV USA, an International Peace organization, returned as a guest speaker for the Leadership Development  Institute’s (LDI) January “Dealing with Conflict” class.  In this month’s blog, two members of this year’s LDI class, Tameka Beavers and Morgan Harris, reflect on the January session and what being a member of LDI has meant to them.

“Would you hit, stand, or run?” This was the question posed to our LDI group during our January session to assess how we deal with conflict in certain situations. Our guest speaker, Chrissy Fischer, delved into conflict and how to effectively manage it in various situations. It was very revealing to all of us to see how quickly we responded to scenarios ranging from a random stranger making rude comments about our favorite sports team to a coworker taking credit for our work. The major take away I learned about managing conflict is that communication is more effective when both parties can agree on the facts.

Within a few months, LDI has already been such a rewarding experience by giving us the opportunity to reflect on creative ways of becoming great leaders within the Junior League, our careers, and in our communities. I am looking forward to future sessions and growing each day from this invaluable opportunity.
