JLC Members Prep for Prom

It may seem early to some, but prom is right around the corner for students involved with the Alexander Youth Network.

On February 23 the Junior League of Charlotte  partnered with the non-profit to help host the first-ever formal dance for residents.

“They are looking for ways to provide residential patients with a more realistic school experience,” says Liv Aument, Chair of the JLC’s Alexander Youth Network committee.

For those not familiar, the Alexander Youth Network is a local organization that focuses on empowering Charlotte area kids and families to help them recover from severe emotional and behavioral challenges.  They provide outpatient treatment services and in-patient services with a facility that houses over 30 children at a time.

“They approached us last year about helping host several events for the spring,” says Aument.

Aument and other members were be on hand for the fun.

“It’s been an amazing experience working with Alexander Youth Network. I love interacting with the residents and the staff at AYN. I found the mission to be very important and I’m glad that the JLC can support it.  All the events are a lot of fun for us to participate in and see how much fun the residents are having.

The second event the JLC is helping to plan and host, is a field day scheduled for May 4. The day will have various staff verse resident events followed by a BBQ.

They Alexander Youth Network committee is always looking for new ideas/events  to provide the best experience for residents.

Please contact Liv Aument with any suggestions.
