Getting to know President-Elect Beverley Shull

I wanted to get to know 2013-2014 President-Elect Beverley Shull a little better, so I spent a few minutes catching up on what she likes to do when she’s not volunteering with the Junior League of Charlotte.

Originally from Montgomery Alabama, Beverley went to college at University of Virginia where she graduated with a civil engineering degree.  Outside of being President-Elect of the JLC, she spends time with her husband and two daughters, ages 4 and 7, and works part-time for a commercial grading contractor. Next time you’re flying out on the new runway or parking in the new deck at the Charlotte airport, think about Beverley – her team built those projects.

A self-described food nerd, Beverley’s favorite thing to do in her spare time is to welcome friends into her home and share with them the food and drink she’s prepared. For example, Beverley hosted the JLC Management Team retreat at her home, during which her daughters served hors d’oeuvres, and her husband manned the grill.

Beverley graduated from her provisional year in 2000 and this marks her fourteenth year in the JLC.  She began her League career by serving in community placements – Windows to Work and Readings with Moms and Dads. She has also served on fundraiser committees, Board of Directors and the last Cornerstone campaign committee prior to chairing the Fund Development Council (FDC). She has also served on the Board.

I’ll leave you with a JLC fun fact about Beverley –both her Grandmother and her aunt were Presidents of the Junior League of Montgomery, and her aunt has also served on the board of AJLI.
