Women of Color (WOC): Cocktails and Conversation

On September 23, 2021, the Women of Color affinity group hosted their first event of the year, Cocktails and Conversation. The program touched on ways to mobilize this important population of Junior League membership by bringing authentic voices to the table and supporting their continued leadership journey.

With the slate nomination process currently underway, members discussed important issues around leadership including perceived barriers, how to make an impact, and ways to use experience in personal and professional roles outside the league.

The WOC has chosen the theme for the year “Focus on M.E.” (Meaningful Engagement). “Our charge this year is the member experience,” says event coordinator Brandi Edwards. “We know we are working from a deficit with last year being virtual so we are trying to find ways to connect that will continue to serve our members in a meaningful way.”

Look for more WOC events in the coming months.
