The Value of Double Placing

Amanda Hollingsworth and Chrissy Fischer are both gearing for a busy year as members of the Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC). Amanda is serving on both the 90th Anniversary and JLC Healing Arts for Hemby committees, while Chrissy is splitting time between the Membership Meeting and Leadership Development committees. Taking on a double placement is a huge commitment, one that both women have accepted with eagerness and anticipation.

Chrissy is not new to double placing with the JLC. During her six years of membership, she has double placed four of those years. She recommends looking for placements that will give you a new experience or teach you a new skill. When choosing placements each year, she tries to find one external and one internal placement. “In doing so, you will meet a lot of great people and learn so much more about the JLC.” This year she is most excited to learn how to plan meetings for hundreds of attendees. Make sure to meet Chrissy at the next GMM.

Amanda is following Chrissy’s lead and taking on both an external and internal placement. When Lisa Johnson, JLC President, asked Amanda to join the 90th Anniversary Committee, she was ecstatic to help plan for such a large celebration. Something was still calling her to serve the community through an external placement, so she found herself also accepting a position on the JLC Healing Arts for Hemby Committee. To those considering double placing, Amanda suggests “reading all the placement descriptions to narrow your choices down to causes that are important to you and any special interests you may have that are included in those placements”.

When double placing you will not only earn four membership credits for successfully completing the requirements of both placements, but you will also be able to maximize your JLC experience by learning new skills, fostering new relationships, and making an even greater impact in our community.
