The Rockstar Behind The Scenes of Rockstars and Member Monday: Emma Lubanski

Members are the heart of our organization, and it is our members’ stories that demonstrate our mission in action in our community. One way the Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC) shares these stories and recognizes dedication to the JLC is through featured Member Monday articles or monthly Rockstar summaries on our blog. The Human Resources Council (HRC) Marketing and PR committee is responsible for collecting nominations and turning them into the features you look forward to reading online. Wonder how it works? Let’s get to know the Rockstar behind the Rockstars and Member Monday posts: Emma Lubanski, Chair of the HRC Marketing & PR team.Emma Blog Pic 2

MEET EMMA: Emma grew up in Charlotte on Lake Wylie. After high school, she moved to Scotland to attend the University of St Andrews. Two years later, she was “tired of the cold and rainy Scottish weather and being so far away from family,” so she transferred to East Carolina University. There, she joined a sorority, fell in love with college football and met Robert Lubanski, who three years later would become her husband. Emma works for Vanguard as a Human Resources Coordinator, responsible for recruiting operations supporting all Executive Recruiting efforts. Emma and Robert live in Beverly Woods East, which Emma describes “as the best neighborhood in Charlotte.” When she’s not contributing time to the JLC, Emma is very actively involved in the BWE Women’s Club. She adds, “I am 100% obsessed with my two year old yellow lab, Georgia, and can often be found reading a book on our back porch as she explores the backyard.” She and Robert are looking forward to summer days at the neighborhood pool, and their favorite spot in Charlotte is Dogwood Southern Table, where Emma claims their $5 burger is “the best deal in Charlotte.”

WHY THE JLC? Although she grew up in Charlotte, Emma admits that when she moved back to town after college, she felt a little disconnected from the city. “Joining the JLC was a way for me to connect with like-minded women and try to re-connect to the city through voluntarism and training. My favorite part of my JLC experience has been meeting so many different women through the League. Be it women in my provisional small group, women on my committee this year, or women on the HRC and Communications Council, I have met so many individuals and truly value those friendships.” Emma adds, “I am also a huge fan of Third Thursday Socials. The next one is this Thursday, March 17 at 7 PM at Draught. (Click here to register!) Since it is a St Patrick’s Day Party – remember to wear green and bring a friend / spouse / significant other.”

WHY EMMA IS A ROCKSTAR: Charlitta Hatch, HRC Manager, says “Emma is truly the voice of our membership. She has been the unsung hero of HRC, and we couldn’t be more thankful for her helping to make sure our members are informed and excited about what’s going on with the JLC. I am so grateful for her leadership not only to the League but to HRC.” Tricia Magee, Communications Manager agrees. “Not only is Emma full of great ideas and ways to implement them, but she consistently steps up taking on additional responsibilities with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Plus, her enthusiasm for social media – particularly her love of Instagram—has made measurable impact on the JLC’s social media efforts this year.”

HOW ROCKSTARS AND #MEMBERMONDAY POSTS ARE CREATED: Emma explains, “Member Monday spotlights come from a variety of sources. They can be active, sustainer or provisional members that are going above and beyond. Anyone can reach out to a member of the Communications Council to recommend someone as a Member Monday spotlight. Once someone is identified as a potential feature for a Member Monday, someone from the Communications Council will reach out to them and let them know about the nomination to be featured on the blog and in social media. We ask them a series of questions so that we can write up a little blog and then voilà! our newest Member Monday blog is published.” As for the monthly Rockstar reports, Emma says, “Rockstars are identified through the Monthly Digests that Committee Chairs or Vice Chairs submit each month. I compile the list and grab photos from the JLC directory (reminder for everyone to update their profile picture) and then publish it to the blog.”

Have an idea for a #MemberMonday feature or Rockstar suggestion? Let Emma or a member of Communications Council know, so that we can continue to share our members’ stories.
