Tips for a Healthy Start to 2013

As 2012 comes to an end, it is time to start thinking about your New Year’s Resolutions.  Heather Obleada, the owner of Iron Butterfly Pilates and an active JLC member has some simple ideas that are sure to make 2013 your best year yet.

A new year, a new you, a new resolution.   Becoming a healthier version of yourself doesn’t take hours at the gym and a fad diet.  When deciding on your healthy 2013 resolutions, keep it simple.

Heather’s top six tips:

1. Drink Water
The simplest beverage is the best for you. Don’t worry about counting “how many glasses am I having?” Just drink more than you are now.

2. Breathe
It’s the first thing we do when we enter the world, and the last thing we do when we leave.  Let each breath in between those times count.

3. Move
Our bodies were not made to sit for eight hours straight.  Make an effort to get up during the day and move.

4. Eliminate Processed Food
Enjoy the outside loop of the grocery store, and remember if you can buy it at a convenience store it’s probably not that good for you.

5.Realize you can’t change people
But, you can change how you react to them.

6. Surround yourself with positive people:
Enough said!

Remember – The days may be long, but the years are short.  Live, love, laugh, and be good to yourself!
