September GMM Recap

The September Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC) General Membership Meeting began with a warm welcome during social hour.  We connected with friends, sampled Pinkberry, visited our sponsors and bought tickets to Lights! Camera! Fashion!  A lively drumbeat and fellow League members ushered us into the meeting for the call to order and to hear more wonderful music from our community partner Alexander Youth Network’s drum squad.  We heard from our fashionable new sponsor, Brooks Brothers, and received discount coupons and a chance to win a leather bag valued at over $500.  87 lucky winners in honor of 87 years of JLC service found $50 gift cards under their chairs. JLC members had a chance to learn the importance of breast and gynecological cancer prevention from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and from JLC member Carin Ross Johnson, who founded Lydia’s Legacy in her mother’s honor.  Teen Health Connection’s Libby Safrit kept things lively and reminded us to take care of ourselves.  Amie Hutchison gave us a reflection to remember.  Throughout the evening there were mission raffles from 8 The Salon, Criswell and Criswell facials, Flex and Fit passes, and a rock star raffle and adjourning comments from our president, Whitni Wilson-Wertz.  See you at the next meeting!
