Another tasty Kids in the Kitchen recipe

Spring is here in Charlotte!  Flowers are blooming, the pollen count is at an all-time high, and the temperatures have been teetering between cold and warm for weeks now. It’s time to put away our winter coats and get ready for some time outdoors!
If you are like me, the spring season usually means a focus on fitness and healthy eating.  I can no longer hide unwanted pounds underneath sweaters and coats.
Below is a super healthy recipe I found on the Kids in the Kitchen website.  It’s a great way to sneak in some healthy fruits and vegetables into your midday snack.  Plus it’s a hit with children!
Green Gazoogle
Source: Bean Sprouts
Makes: 2
A green smoothie with a goofy name!
Ingredients
  • 2 handfuls spinach leaves
  • ½ cup frozen mango
  • ½ cup frozen strawberries
  • ½ ripe banana
  • 1½ cups pineapple juice
Directions
  1. To make this green gulper, blend ingredients in blender until smooth.
  2. Before you sip your smoothie, clink cups and say “Gazoogle!” (which is a mix of words which mean “cheers” and “fantastic”). Bean appétit!
Bean Appetit is a “fresh and fun cookbook that gets kids excited about good-for-you food.”  It was even featured on Good Morning America!
